Here are some new cornrow pictures taken of my baby girl. I put these in last Saturday afternoon. It went pretty fast because her hair is not as thick as my older daughter.
This next one is a little blurry. Baby Girl was having a bit of trouble standing still. She was too excited about her new beads.
Here she is giving me “the look”. She wasn’t really mad but she thinks it is hysterical to have her picture taken with that look on her face. The child has been able to roll her eyes since she was 2 years old.
Here is a view from the back. Her hair has gotten about 80% thicker in the last year.
Another shot with a view of the back and side:
Oh, so coy…..
And….here is the last one. After begging me for months to have her ears pierced, we finally went on Friday. Lots happened that day. First of all, the people at Claire’s (where we had her ears pierced) repeatedly asked if I was her mother and looked at me skeptically when I replied I most certainly was. That stung. Then, as I held her on my lap for her ears to be pierced, it seemed the entire store was watching to see if the three year old was going to SCREAM. I guess it was a bit anticlimatic for everyone. My big girl did not even say “Ouch.”
To say the least, she is feeling pretty sassy with her newly pierced ears and beaded hair. I asked her what she thought everyone would say about her earings and she said, “They will say I am beautiful.” No argument there.

Funny you should say that. I had a woman ask me today if I would braid her white daughter’s hair in cornrows. She said she would pay me. I said, “Ummm. Probably not.”
I can barely get all 5 of my kids presentable. This summer my oldest son (white) tried to talk me into cornrowing his hair.
Didn’t work.
